Cron-o-meter success

Working!

Oh dear... How do I know what are my nutritional targets? 1200 for cals, fine. 70g for protein... but what's everything else?

Um... help? Again?

EDIT.
Oh My God, this is scary, scary stuff.
If I eat everything that I've put into cron-0-meter to produce this, then this is today's nutrition. I've had to force this; I certainly wouldn't have eaten all this... not even sure I can.

How on earth could that journalist have said he was starving on CRON?

Sara, I'm happy that you got the C-o-M working for you! I've enjoyed reading your blog and getting to know another interesting CRONer. Do you want to link?

Hello!

Yes, I will add you to my little collection of links... not sure my blog can be called interesting though... well, perhaps for the weird and wonderful ways in which I can wind myself up. :-)

At the moment the C-o-M has sent me (metaphorically) to hide under the duvet in terror at the mountain of spinach and romaine in my fridge, and the realisation that I really have just spent 20 days (or perhaps fifteen years!) eating way under a 1000 calories a day with less than perfect nutrition.

Still, at least I've got the CR right. :-)

Hi Sara,

Don't despair! It *is* a lot of food but your body will adjust to it, believe me.

I remember the first few times I ate the gigantic kale salad, which I now eat every day. I just didn't think it humanly possible to eat that much greenery. I felt like a giant, overstuffed rabbit. Today, though, I down 6 oz. of kale and Swiss chard with no problem every day at lunch. It just takes a long time to finish and I feel extremely full and satisfied for a long time afterward.

I'm glad to see you've gotten C-O-M up and running. Definitely crunch the numbers to make sure you're eating enough. It's really important. And remember, in some of your previous posts you've mentioned feeling extremely hungry or even faint with hunger at particular times of the day. That shouldn't happen if you're getting all you need.

If you find huge meals overwhelming, why not break up all the food into lots of smaller meals? There's no law that says you have to eat everything in 3 meals.

Hi sara,

I had trouble eating enough food at first, too. I read your orthorexia post, and it definitely sounds to me like you've been somewhat orthorexic for a long time. I was borderline orthorexic/anorexic for a while, and tracking my food on CRON has really helped me shift my focus away from that - I'm less obsessed with food than I've been in a long time. And somehow, this new & positive attitude toward food has helped my body image so much. I'm only 5 pounds lighter than I was pre-cron, and I'm still 15 pounds above my lowest weight (at the height of my disordered eating), and I don't exactly love my body - but I'm so much more comfortable in my skin, just because my focus is now on nourishing my body and treating it well.

so, just do what you can with the food. try to focus on getting enough nutrients, and though it may look like a lot of food, you don't need to worry that it'll make you gain weight - you KNOW how low-calorie it is.

I also second the suggestion of lots of small meals, I sometimes eat 6-7 times a day.

"Last year, in addition to my salads etc, I was eating oatcakes, rice cakes, some bread, more cheese, occassionally some pasta or rice, quite often a lot of tinned pulses."

Tinned pulses? Huh?

Tinned pulses = canned beans and lentils. Because soaking and preparing them was too much work involved for the amount I ate. Clearer? :-) Nothing to do with cyber heartbeats.
