I shall CRON to the ball

I am in the throes of post-shopping-splurge-binge comedown, after having purchased not one, but two, dresses from the collection at H&M designed by Madonna. I just wandered in for a look and was really unimpressed by the whole lot until I saw this and was smitten. And they had it in black too. And.... well, I tried them on. And I just had to. They are lovely and timeless and as long as I don't put weight on (because they are both a very, very small UK 10 (US 6)), I think I will be wearing them for many years to come. So, another vanity reason to keep up and step up the CRON and to cut down the wine. Again.

Speaking of which, of course I indulged again in that with my friends last night, but the food wasn't a disaster - I ate rocket and parmesan salad, round courgette stuffed with a small amount of gorgonzola and stuff, carrots with rosemary and garlic and salad leaves. I also ate a little bit of cheese from my friend's cheese plate, but to be honest everything was just that little rich for my CRONed palate and I was full after the rocket.

So it's April's CR gathering this weekend. I hope there will be pictures, and tales on blogs later on next week. Hilary Grace and I will be having our own CRON get together the week after next when she visits the UK. By coincidence she will be staying about 10 miles from where I live, so it would be rude not to extend hospitality to a fellow CRONie! How exciting! Also, she might be bringing me mega-muffin mix - if we can work the logistics. Cool... :-) So... what to cook, what to cook. I day-dreamed my way through a really dull training course this morning, creating yummy CR meals in my head. There may very well be chocolate pudding involved...

Ohhhh very nice dress. I would have bought it too..too bad H&M Is not near me right now.

When we lived in Germany, my kids were dressed in H&M every day. Awesome kids clothes!! (JIC you need to shop for children in the near future :)

Anyhow, don't want to rain on the parade, and I can't remember the rules about bringing food stuffs into GB, it's extremely strict coming into the US of A so make sure Hilary knows what's what before she (and you) commit to that. I'll never forget the cute adorable food-sniffing Beagle (among other skills) attacking my carry-on bag at Dulles airport after a horrible flight back home with the babies going for the apple and banana left over. UGH!

Cheers!

;-D

You are right about the food-stuffs, of course... I've brought stuff back in from the US, but then they probably don't check UK citizens coming in as much as citizens from elsewhere. Certainly don't want to get Hilary into trouble...

That is a beautiful dress! Too bad I've never seen an H&M store in the US. :( But I'll be heading to Tokyo in a couple of months - maybe then. You're right; it's a timeless dress that I could see a woman from anytime from 1930 to today wearing confidently. I never feel too badly about splurging on those kinds of timeless clothes since I'll wear them forever. Unlike T shirts.

The import food rules have annoyed me for years, but even more so now because I generally want to bring some specialty gluten-free food stuff with me when I travel. I want to stay healthy and it can take some time to find good gluten-free foods overseas. Please don't take away my rice crackers!

That dress is gorgeous! Also, they say that a UK 10 is a US 6, but the size deflation here is ridiculous. . . I think most UK 10s are sized like US 2-4s here (even 0s at some stores.) Sizes are so dumb though, I was at Old Navy the other day and fit comfortably into a size 2 in one style and an 8 in another style. I can understand if I fit two sizes depending on the cut, but 4? That's just stupid.

Um, anyway, what I meant to say was that that is a lovely dress and I'm sure it looks gorgeous on you!

Oh, and regarding food-import rules, packaged foods are usually okay - it's fresh fruits, veg, and meat that are considered dangerous. I brought spices and tea back to the US (just because I had them and didn't want to throw them out) and the customs people saw them and said it was fine.
