Reading this article today made me FURIOUS. And then it made me very upset, and scared. And then I ate some more blueberries and yoghurt to remind myself that I DO NOT HAVE AN EATING DISORDER, I DO NOT WANT TO BE A SIZE 0 and I am NOT KILLING MYSELF by practising CRON.
Just the food and the crunch. I'm still a bit upset. I've also had a "hungry" day, and reading that article set me up even more for the comfort munchies. I've probably been hungry for another reason. I keep wanting the final calorie total in CoM to be (just) less than 1000 - in case, what? In case I suddenly desire to dive head-first into a tub of Ben and Jerry's? (which would have to magically appear in the house anyway!) In case I want 2 glasses of wine rather than 1? More likely... Because I want to be hard-core perfect at this? Hmm, warmer! Because I don't want those 4lbs back that have been bugging me since 2004? Um, ding-dong! I can be a right stubborn (and stupid, and contradictory) cow when I put my mind to it.
The Food
Breakfast - 100g blueberries (not 8, sweet Jesus!!), 100g yoghurt, pumpkin seeds, almonds, grapenuts
Snack - 100g sweet mama squash, almonds. I still don't believe the squash was 33 calories.
Lunch - soup made from 260g leeks, 100g broccoli, 15g brewer's yeast, almonds (that 20g went a long way today!). Spinach salad with avocado, raw red pepper, cherry tomatoes, flax and lemon.
Snack - 50g blueberries, 50g yoghurt, 16g (unsulphured) dried apricots - ie, 2.
Dinner - casserole of mushrooms, onion and quorn, topped with mashed celeriac, steamed kale and green beans on the side. Glass wine, I think.
The Crunch (sans wine)

Sara,
I completely agree that that article was irksome!
How tall are you? 1100 is most likely too low. If you eat too little and lose weight too fast you'll lose all the longevity benefits of CRON. How about kicking it up to 1200 in food, then a glass of wine with dinner? No need to give up your glass of wine, just be sure you're getting plenty of food calories. It's important to decrease gradually, and I think you are taller than I am.
Your kitty is beautiful! I must go give my kitties a cuddle now... they have been very good to let me type on the computer undisturbed.

Hi April
Yes, I probably do need to increase somewhat. I'm 5'6". Getting up to 1200 shouldn't be too hard; I shall eat some lowfat cheese right not, and 100% my calcium. I just need to break the all-or-nothing mentality...
Thanks for looking in!
Oh Puleez..that girl was a complete fool all in the name of doing it for her magazine. How sad.
You eat wholesome food and concentrate on nutrition. You are obviously on the right track. Do NOT let this kind of nonsense worry you. Absolutely kick up the protein and cals when you feel the need. It's natural.
Love the beautiful cat. What a treasure. Obviously he's CR too!! What is he in people years?
I'm also 5'6" and I shoot for 1200 but quite often go up as high as 1400 if I'm out and about. Boost it up when you need to.
Take it easy. do what you must..don't be too hard on yourself. your good food choices will always out weight the bad ones.

Hi Deborah,
According to this, http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/cat_yrs.htm, she is around 94 cat years! She's good dodgy kidneys, but she wasn't CR'd until a couple of years ago - I know that was a joke, but she truly is - she was put on a diet, and now eats very little but special cat food and tuna and the occassional prawn when P is here to shell them for her. There you go, I'm also mad where my cat is concerned! :-)
Thank you for your kind words on my CR. I'm feeling calmer now (after 13g cheese and, um, another 5oz glass of cab), but still furious with the article, and the woman for doing it to herself. It seems worse than Morgan Spurlock, somehow.
Deborah, well said ... I agree completely. Too many CR folks are way too hard on themselves. As in all things, you'll have good days and bad -- just keep striving for healthy eating and you'll be fine.
Al
You are all so tall!!!
If you're that tall, I'd say eat more. Small increases in height can add up to big increases in calorie needs.
And if you have them, do post more cat pictures! We love kitties!
a
Actually I"m 5'5" and 1/4 just tall enough to boot me out of petite sizing..but short enough that pants and shirt sleeves are always long.
my dog is CR too. Naturally. She's a very picky eater..will sometimes leave half her food in her doggy dish. She begs shamelessly but I've trained my family not to feed her people food..it's terrible stuff..really :)
Oh to have a cat again..but not till the kids leave the house.. they are all allergic. isn't that awful? I'll have to enjoy them vicariously through you guys.
'night

Enjoy...the cats, not the kids. LOL
Wow, you are all sooooo tall! I bet you can reach things on high shelves.
MR can hide presents from me by putting them in plain view just slightly above my eye level.

Well, if it's anywhere as cold where you are as in Newcastle, you might be hungry because it's colder this week than last.
